Josh Board will start in the seven during the under 21s pre-season opener

The green and golds will do battle with St Pat's at Jack Arrow Oval as Cam Jones' men make up one of six sides playing in the inaugural bracket.

Woodbridge, Forbes, Dubbo Macquarie and Dubbo CYMS will also duke it out for pre-season supremacy.

"You don't really get to go against any Group 11 teams so it will be good to see some new faces," Board said.

"It's also going to be the last opportunity for a lot of guys to play in their own age group before they go up to reserves or first grade."

For Board, he appears to be a prime candidate for a first-grade position alongside Mortimer, so Friday night's tilt could be the first of several pre-season auditions.

But, he isn't thinking too much about that, rather the 21-year-old is simply focused on doing his job as a game manager.

"I just have to make sure we have shape and make sure everyone is sticking to their structure," he said.

"We need to get to the right points of the field and have good shape."

Speaking about their opponent, Board has seen plenty of the blue and whites throughout his playing career and knows what CYMS are in for.

"They're always a tough side to play against," he said.

"They've got a good side by the the sounds of things so we just need to shape up against them."

Crossing over to the hosts, St Pat's are set to welcome a pair of new players into the fold this season as Cooper Neilson, and Aaron Mawhinney will have come over from Parkes and Forbes respectively.

"Cooper Neilson he's a halfback and he's played a lot of senior football, he's a very, very smart footballer and he's real calm. He trains really, really hard, he's got a real level head and the boys look up to him," Pat's coach Tyson Medlin said.

"Aaron Mawhinney has come over from Forbes, he's won a competition a couple of years ago. He'll be another leader.

"I watched him [Mawhinney] at the Nines competition over the weekend, to be an under 21s and the attitude he has - he tackles everything, he makes things person, he's a competitor."

The match will get underway at 6:45pm.
